These retreats comprise activities and clinical therapies that can stimulate positive emotions and help with mood, such as art therapy, storytelling or music therapy. The theory is that by removing themselves from stressors such as work and family to live in an environment focused on positivity, it will help relieve symptoms of depression. Whether depression retreats really work or not depends on the individual, but many people find relief initially, and some continue to feel benefit after the end of their program. There are also different kinds of depression retreats, which may be best for different kinds of depression. For some, it can be a very helpful option for about a month or two.
